The National Board of Optometrists Association Australia has appointed Ms Genevieve Quilty to the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective 30 March 2012.
Ms Quilty has been the Acting Chief Executive Officer since late September 2011. She had been the Deputy CEO from May 2011 and National Policy Manager for the Association since October 2008.
Before commencing with the Association, Ms Quilty worked in senior policy and political roles in the Australian Government, including chief of staff and senior policy adviser to the Minister for Finance and Administration, and senior policy adviser to the Federal Treasurer.
‘The Board is pleased to select Ms Quilty to fill the permanent position as CEO of Optometrists Association Australia,’ the Chairman of the Association’s National Board, Mr Andrew Harris, said. ‘Ms Quilty was chosen from a strong list of candidates following a competitive selection process. She is ideally placed to fulfill the CEO position, given her background and knowledge of the Association and health-care sector. Ms Quilty will lead a team of experienced National Office staff members to continue to provide useful and effective services to optometrists in Australia, with the goal of empowering them to provide accessible, quality eye heath and vision care for all Australians.’
