This submission was written in response to an online survey released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare in relation to their draft National Sports Injury Data Strategy consultation report. Given that according to a previous AIHW report, sport is one of the four most common causes of eye injuries in Australia, it recommends the strategy give specific attention to gathering more data about eye injuries caused by sport and their short and long term economic impact. It also highlights the importance of ensuring tools developed to encourage recording of sporting injuries in the community are accessible to screen reader users.
