Vision 2020 Australia was pleased to have the opportunity to recently meet with Prime Minister Scott Morrison, to discuss priorities for the eye sector.
Vision 2020 Australia Chair the Hon Christopher Pyne, David Andrews (RANZCO), Lyn Brodie (Optometry Australia), Nick Martin (Fred Hollows Foundation), Richard Tew (Novartis), Prof Hugh Taylor (Indigenous Eye Health, University of Melbourne) and Vision 2020 Australia CEO Judith Abbott attended the meeting, which covered areas such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander eye health investment priorities, tackling blindness in PNG, the need for more public cataract surgeries, opportunities arising from the Aged Care Royal Commission and sector research and innovation.
The sector values the continued support of the Australian Government and the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to brief our nation’s leader about areas of work that can change the lives of people affected by vision loss, in Australia and abroad.
