Vision 2020 Australia seeks to eliminate avoidable blindness and vision loss by the year 2020 and ensure blindness and vision impairment are no longer barriers to full participation in the community.
We have three key areas of focus:
At both state and federal levels, we lead discussions with key authorities and stakeholders. Acting as a peak body, we advocate for policy change and prioritisation of eye health and vision care. Identifying opportunities to integrate eye care into existing services and government initiatives is also part of our advocacy work.
We work in partnership with members and government to raise the profile of eye health and vision care issues through public and professional awareness campaigns. We promote a national campaign each October for World Sight Day, a chance to focus global attention on eye health and vision care.
We bring together a diverse sector and foster member collaboration through forums, committees, networks and working groups. We engage members to develop policies, strategies and submissions to improve eye health and vision care for all Australians.
