National Policy Committee Update

Late in 2011, Vision 2020 Australia strengthened its national policy committees’ governance. As their first two-year term comes to an end it is worth reflecting on what has been achieved through collaboration. Each committee aligns with Vision 2020 Australia’s strategic goals and focuses on matters relating to prevention and early intervention, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or low vision and rehabilitation. Vision 2020 Australia Low Vision and Rehabilitation advocacy update

At the COAG meeting and in the days following, agreement was reached to trial the NDIS in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and ACT. To begin defining the design of NDIS, consultation will commence in late August with people with a disability, their families and carers, the workforce, disability sector and peak bodies. Enhancing Advocacy for Eye Care at National Levels

The global initiative for the elimination of avoidable blindness by the year 2020-(VISION 2020- The Right to Sight), established in 1999, is a partnership of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), governments, bilateral organizations, corporate bodies and the World Health Organization.
