National Glaucoma Week 2010

National Glaucoma Week seeks to raise awareness of the ‘silent’ eye condition—glaucoma. It is a major cause of sight loss in Australia.

The theme for this year’s National Glaucoma Week, starting 15th August, is WHY?

Glaucoma Australia asks:

  • Why do so many people take their eyes for granted?
  • Why don’t all Australians undertake regular eye checks?
  • Why would people not value their independence?

The week will encourage all Australians, once they reach the age of 40, to undertake a comprehensive eye check every two years and not to take their sight for granted.
