Lauren Henley

Lauren is the National Policy Officer at Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) and moved into this role after having worked for three years as BCA’s NSW Advocacy and Information Officer. In 2006, Lauren was involved in a motor vehicle accident which resulted in her losing her sight and catapulted her into the world of blindness. Having lived 20 years of her life without a disability, Lauren understands well what it is like not to have to face adversity and does not believe that a person’s vision should determine the extent to which they are able to access services within the wider community. This is the principle which underpins her passion for policy and advocacy work and she is committed to eliminating the many barriers that are still faced by people who are blind or vision impaired today.
